Useless in Lion
  • jjhoogeboomjjhoogeboom August 2011

I bought dateline from the app store but in lion I find it useless with the background mode, even though it doesn't allow clicks, if it's treated as app i might as well open ical.

Can I enable the background mode in the app version or instead trade it for a normal version key?

    Hi,

Very sorry to hear that you are having trouble with DateLine. I am a little confused about your problem, however.

Changes Apple made to Lion have made it necessary for me to remove Desktop Icons mode. Is this what you are referring to? What do you mean by "treated as an app"?

Can you describe in a bit more detail how it is not working for you in Lion?

    Thanks,

    Alex

What interested me in the Dateline app is the background mode, the ability to have it be an unintrusive part of the desktop while showing information. For example when you use show desktop to hide all apps you can take a quick glance at the date. However, at the moment it also hides the dateline because it can only be used as app. This removes the purpose of it being a background element. I do not have any use for it if it's just another app, that way I can just as easily and more effectively bring up the ical app.

My question: Can I enable background mode in a way even though I can't click on it? Eventhough it;s not optimal, it's better than not using it at all.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the extra detail.

What you are asking for is not currently possible, however I believe it is possible for me to add an extra preference to control the behaviour of the DateLine window under Expose.

I will look into it and try to include this addition in the next update.

    Thanks for your feedback.
