You don't mention any specifics about your OSX version, however we have recently discovered that Neutrino's Audio exporter is broken under Lion (10.7). Unfortunately due to our reliance upon a variety of long-standing audio functions that work all the way back to OSX 10.4, and which Apple have removed entirely from Lion, fixing this particular issue requires an almost total rewrite of the exporter.
We are working on the exporter rewrite and will be releasing an update as soon as possible, however it is likely to be at least a month or two before we get this functionality working & stable enough for public distribution under 10.7.
Re Neutrino's 'Export playlist' option, this creates an XML playlist file which can be reloaded into Neutrino via drag & drop or 'File-> Open:'. While we used an XML format for exported playlists, we make no guarantees that any app other than Neutrino can use this file as a playlist, and because it is an XML file, double-clicking the file in the Finder will cause it to be opened in whatever app your Finder deems to be the default app for XML files.
We added this feature to make it easier to manage large numbers of playlists, by allowing you to save infrequently accessed playlists to disk, you can simply delete them from Neutrino's Workspace group, then drag & drop the XML file from the Finder back into Neutrino's Workspace group at a later time when you again want to use one of these archived lists.
It's been a while in the making, but we finally have a new Lion-compatible version of Neutrino with a working Audio Exporter available, for more info see this post:
